Ocean City NJ Beach Family Photography Sessions FAQs

Question: What’s included in our Ocean City NJ family session?

Answer: Your photography session includes one hour of photography coverage that takes place during Golden Hour (one hour before sunset). Eight high-resolution, edited, digital photographs are included that you will choose after our session together. You may purchase additional digital photographs, prints, or wall art if you choose.

Question: What should we wear to our family beach photograph session?

Answer: The best outfit is one that you feel comfortable and confident in! Now let’s get into specifics. Avoid clothing with logos and small patterns (They may cause moiré, which is a visual effect that happens with two similar patterns overlap, creating new, wavy, or unwanted stripes of color that go across a photo that wasn’t originally there). I suggest bright solid colors with a few small accessories. I love when families coordinate (not match). The days of everyone wearing a white shirt and jeans have long gone by. However, families wearing different shades of one or two colors look well put together! Speaking of accessories, most clients opt to go barefoot on the beach, if you prefer shoes, I would stick with something casual that you can walk along the beach in.

Question: What happens if there’s a chance of rain?

Answer: I try to make the call as late as comfortably possible for your family. If you have hair and makeup scheduled, you’ll likely need 24 hour cancellation notice, so we will decide the day prior to our scheduled session. If you do not have any appointments and are comfortable making the call the day of your session, I would make the decision 5 hours before your scheduled shoot. If we decide we need to reschedule, I leave the end of my week open for these situations, and we’ll schedule a mutually agreed date.

Question: Why must we shoot so late in the evening?

Answer: Beach sessions are full of sunshine, which is amazing, unless the sun is so bright that it’s causing harsh shadows and unforgiving. I love Golden Hour, which is the hour leading up to sunset, when the light is soft with a golden hue and very flattering, in the summer this can be around 7:00pm, give or take.

Question: Can I bring extended family along to our session?

Answer: Yes! Extended family is welcome for no extra fee, if the total group is 12 people or under. If there are more than 12 people, that may require an additional photographer and would be an extra charge.

Question: What is your photography style?

Answer: I love a mixture of posed AND candid photos. I start with the posed photographs and love to capture parents/grandparents playing with children, playing with kites, searching for the perfect shell, etc. As a parent myself, sometimes it feels like family sessions may not be going well, but I’m quick to snap photos, and trust me, I’ve got you covered! I want all families to have fun, relax, and enjoy the most magical evening together! (Non-messy food bribes are encouraged!)
